Kelp is a rich source of iodine, which inland animals are usually deficient in. Iodine contributes to the proper function of the thyroid gland, which influences the production of many hormones. Kelp is especially known as an aid in the fight against plaque and tartar, which affect the smell of breath - it contains enzymes that effectively dissolve plaque and prevent its formation and subsequent transformation into tartar.
